Cricketer Farm is delighted to have won awards for innovation and tradition at the Nantwich International Cheese Show. Cricketer won a Silver award for its Lighter 22% fat cheese which was entered by Sainsbury’s in the Retailer Reduced Fat Cheese category. Bronze was awarded to Cricketer for its Traditional Farmhouse Mature Cheddar, which was a hard fought category with many fine cheeses. The ability to use time-honoured cheese-making skills and to apply these to cheese innovation is positioning Cricketer Farm at the forefront of the healthier cheese category.
“We are always delighted to receive recognition from the Nantwich International Cheese Show; it truly is a prestigious event and one of the highlights of the year for the team at Cricketer Farm. We are very pleased with the reaction we have had to our new reduced fat recipe, Lighter, and it is particularly interesting to note from recent market research that we are converting people to this new product from Cheddar brands. We are continually listening to our customers, and have provided them with a tasty and healthy alternative, which is a real achievement and testament to the expertise, experience and knowledge of our master cheesemakers,” explains Simon O’Brien from Cricketer.
Cricketer Farm has a history which stretches back over 60 years and it works closely with local farmers to ensure complete traceability of all its cheeses. Each of Cricketer’s cheeses is made to a traditional recipe using full fat, semi-skimmed or skimmed milk, producing a range of Farmhouse Cheddar cheeses, half fat cheeses, quarter fat cheeses and 2% fat cheeses. Cricketer Farm is situated on the edge of the Quantock hills, in Somerset, the first ever Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
