At Cricketer Farm, we are very lucky to be surrounded by a close community of dairy farms, situated amongst lush pasture land. Our policy to source milk from local farmers is key to our success and we work with them closely to ensure the milk for our cheeses and cream is of the very highest quality.
All our farms are independently inspected and must comply with the National Farm Assurance Standard. The milk is refrigerated on the farms and kept chilled before being collected by Cricketer Farm’s milk tankers. On arrival samples are taken and the quality of the milk is carefully tested prior to being unloaded. When the milk is approved it is then pasteurised in preparation for cheese making!
As well as being full time dairy farms, some of our suppliers also run other businesses such as farm shops bursting with fantastic, award-winning local produce. Others provide quintessential farmhouse accommodation and dining in picturesque settings. To find out where these farms are, see the map below. As well as producing cheese we also produce cream which we supply to local businesses, including Yarde Farm in Devon which creates award-winning ice cream. Marshfield Farm near Bath also uses our cream to make its ice cream, which has won three 2008 Great Taste awards; a three-star Gold for Blackcurrant and Clotted Cream Ice Cream and two-stars Gold for Clotted Cream Dairy Ice Cream and Diabetic Vanilla Ice Cream.
